SAT Proctor Script

SAT Practice Test Proctor Script

Introduction

The script I am reading is a highly abridged adaptation of the actual script your proctor will read on test day. Before we begin the practice test, I will briefly touch on the key points that your proctor on test day will address in detail.

The following are prohibited and are grounds for dismissal on test day:
- looking through the test booklet before the start of the test, working on the wrong section, or referring to a previous or future section
- marking answers after time is called
- sharing test answers with anyone during or after the test
- attempting to remove test materials from the testing room
- using any unauthorized testing aids, including cell phones, during testing or on breaks
- attempting to take the test for someone else

At this time, please completely power off any cell phones, pagers, watch alarms, hand-held computers and other electronic devices and put them away until the practice test is complete.

Remove everything from your desk, except your pencils, erasers and acceptable calculator. Close all bags and backpacks and put them under your desk until the practice test is complete.

In a moment I'll give an answer sheet and test book to each of you. The test book will be College Board [SAT Practice Test 4], available free via download from collegeboard.org or for purchase in book form. Do not open your test book until I tell you to.

[Distribute answer sheets and practice test books.]

On test day, your proctor will provide item-by-item guidance on how to fill in your name, personal information, and other data on your answer sheet. For time efficiency, today we will dispatch with these instructions; be prepared, however, for this part of the process on test day.

Today's practice SAT consists of four multiple choice sections, which are, in order, Reading, Writing, Math without calculator, and Math with calculator. The actual SAT on test day will include an optional essay comprising the fifth test section; the essay is not included, however, in today's practice test.

During testing keep your answer booklet and test flat on your desk. Be sure you use a no. 2 pencil. When gridding answers, it is very important that you fill in the entire circle. If you change your response, erase it as completely as possible. It is very important that you follow these instructions when filling in your answer sheet.

I will make an announcement when there are 5 minutes remaining in each section. When I announce the end of the section, immediately put your pencil down and end all work. If you finish before time is called you may not turn to any other section.

Are there any questions?

Grading and Scaling
We will now grade and scale the practice tests.

Students with Apple or Android phones and internet connectivity may download the College Board's "Daily Practice" app to automatically grade and scale their practice tests. The Daily Practice app is available via the Apple App Store and Google Play. To grade and scale SAT Practice Test 4 automatically:
  1. Download and install the Daily Practice app.
  2. Open Daily Practice and activate your phone’s camera.
  3. Keeping the app open, scan your answer sheet with your phone’s camera.

Students whose equipment or connection doesn't permit automatic grading or who prefer hand-grading, please raise your hands at any time, and I will distribute paper answer keys and scaling charts to you.
